The LACC Van de Kamps Satellite Campus Project

Budget Documents for the Van de Kamps LACC Satellite Campus Project

The project for adaptive re-use of the original Van de Kamps (VdK) building and the construction of other buildings to house a Satellite Campus has had many revisions and the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) and Los Angeles Community College (LACC) have made many claims about what the actual budget is and what pots of money have been used for what aspects of the project. To provide the best information available we reproduce here budget documents generated by the College and the District offices.

You may notice that there are a number of different figures in these documents. That is partly because some are estimates, but there are also issues with various claims made by LACC and LACCD. At one point it was claimed that there was no state money in the project, yet Senator Richard Polanco had secured $3 million in State funds  as seed money to get the project started and as you can see that is clearly stated at the bottom of the first document.

We find these conflicting numbers confusing too. The Coalition has submitted a
California Public Records Act (CPRA) request for full documentation of money spent and raised for the project. The District is stalling in giving us the material requested and we are working on obtaining that information. As soon as we can find out more, we will post it.
